Remove latch screws using a screwdriver and TX25 bit.
18.
Drill out rivets (4 off) in brose plate - ensure correct rivets are drilled using a 5 mm drill.
19.
Lift out plate assembly.
Note:
Fit new cable clips for harness (P/N YQR 10057).
Take care not to break off child lock button on reassembly.
When the door has been reassembled, operate exterior handle 3 to 4 times. Remove the rubber plug in the edge of the door by latch, insert a 3 mm Allen
key and secure the pre-load screw finger tight refit plug. where the Workshop Manual, in section 86 page 32 item NO 11 states 4 bolts, they are actually
pop rivets.
Refer to previous section for electrical checks for rear door.

Erratic Front Door Microswitches
AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
RANGE ROVER (LP)
VA351347 to VA358683
SITUATION:
FRONT DOOR MICROSWITCHES EXHIBIT ERRATIC OPERATION
1997 Range Rovers in the above VIN range may exhibit erratic operation of the front door latch microswitches. This condition can lead to a false "door
open" indication from the latch microswitch.
Symptoms that may be caused by fault microswitch operation include:

Interior lamp inoperative.
^
Interior lamp will not turn off.
^
Message Centre warning "DOOR OPEN LH-F" or "DOOR OPEN RH-F".
^
Alarm system mis-lock accompanied by Message Centre warning "DOOR OPEN LH-F" or "DOOR OPEN RH-F".
^
Air suspension inoperative below 35 mph (56 kph).
^
Dead battery - BeCM fails to enter sleep mode.
NOTE:
At latch date code 289, a change was made within the door latch to improve location of the microswitch and eliminate these symptoms.
RESOLUTION:
REPLACE LATCH
