A possible defect which relates to motor vehicle safety may exist in some 1995 model year Range Rover 4.0 SE vehicles imported by Land Rover North
America, Inc.

DESCRIPTION OF DEFECT

Land Rover has identified a possible defect in the engine drive belt idler pulley fitted to a number of Range Rover 4.0 SE vehicles. Should this idler
pulley fail, the driver would notice a loud mechanical noise from the engine compartment accompanied by the illumination of the red battery symbol in
the instrument pack and the message "ALTERNATOR FAULT" in the message center. In addition, there will be no power assisted steering.

VEHICLES INVOLVED/CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION

U.S. and Canadian Range Rover 4.0 SE vehicles within the VIN range SA300190 - SA319682 are involved in this recall action. A list of vehicles
currently in your inventory or enroute is attached.

Any unsold vehicles in dealer stock must be modified prior to sale. All vehicles being delivered to your dealership within the VIN range must be checked
for the presence of the campaign label affixed above the right hand headlamp on the hood locking panel. If the label is present, no further action is
required.

Customer notification will be sent from Land Rover within the next two weeks. Bulletin R95-004, which will include a sample of the customer
notification letter, will be forthcoming. In the meantime, if a vehicle within the VIN range is scheduled for a service appointment, please complete the
work outlined in Technical Information Bulletin D/C 871. You will receive a complete list of all customers who purchased vehicles from your dealership
along with bulletin R95-OO4. Due to current limited parts supply, we kindly request that you refrain from contacting customers until you have received
this list. By the time customers have been notified and you have received bulletin R95-004, we will have an adequate parts supply.

WORK PROCEDURES

All vehicles within the specified VIN range must have the idler pulley replaced. We also ask you to check the condition of the drive belt and, if damaged,
it should be replaced. Detailed repair procedures are contained in the enclosed Technical Information Bulletin D/C871.

STATUS CHECKING/VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION

You may check the disposition of any vehicle using the Land Rover DCS terminal - Warranty Recall/Search screen.

In order to prevent recall duplication, complete and install a Service Campaign label on the hood locking panel just above the right hand headlamp.
Cover the label with a clear acrylic protective film.

Complete the Service Action Record located in the back of the Passport to Service booklet.
