Swivel Hub Alignment Check

Note: 

Swivel hub alignment is crucial to seal life.

Alignment must be checked and adjusted if necessary.

1.

Clean axle seal bore.

2.

Clean inside diameter of swivel hub to remove rust and dirt buildup.

3.

Using tool # LRT-54-006/1.

Turn clamp screw fully counterclockwise.

Ensure that clamp toggle rotates smoothly.

4.

Locate tool into axle casing with "Top" mark upwards (Figure 5).

Make sure that tool is located properly in seal bore and tighten clamp screw. Using soft-faced mallet, tap end of clamp screw to properly seat in
bore. Tighten screw if necessary.

6.

Check adjustment of swivel hub by sliding tool # LRT-54-006/2 over tool # LRT-54-006/1.

CAUTION: 

Do not force tool into hub.

7.

Adjustment is correct if tool # LRT-54-006/2 is a sliding fit in swivel hub.

8.

If tool is not a sliding fit, adjust with the following procedure.

Swivel Hub Adjustment

1.

Remove 2 nuts securing track rod and drag link to swivel hub (Figure 6).

2.

Break taper joints. Move track rod and drag link aside.

3.

Remove 2 nuts securing joints to swivel hub.
