Anti-Theft Alarm Sounds When Liftgate is Opened

CONDITION SUMMARY:

NEW CJB SOFTWARE AVAILABLE TO RESOLVE ALARM SYSTEM TRIGGERING WHEN THE LIFTGATE IS OPENED

Situation: 
A customer may report a concern that the vehicle alarm sounds when opening the liftgate. After a remote handset is used to 'release' the liftgate, the
Central Junction Box (CJB) expects to receive an 'open' state signal (when the liftgate is physically opened) within a set time period. If the liftgate is not
opened within the set time period, after remote activation, the anti-theft system will reset. Opening the liftgate after the alarm system has reset is then
registered as an 'unauthorized entry' condition, triggering the alarm system. The current preset time period is a short 400 milliseconds.

NOTE:

The new CJB software increases the time period for "authorized" access to 30 seconds after the tailgate is "released" using the remote handset. The
alarm is triggered if the liftgate is "opened" after this time period expires. The customer should be made aware that this anti-theft alarm feature
protects the vehicle from "unauthorized" access if the liftgate is accidentally "released" by the remote handset.

Action:
Should a customer express a concern regarding this situation, refer to the Repair Procedure detailed in this bulletin to update the Body Control Module
software to increase the authorized entry time to 30 seconds.
