Brake Caliper: Service and Repair
Rear
Removal and Installation
1. Remove union bolt and disconnect brake hose from caliper.
2. Remove caliper bolts and caliper from torque plate.
3. Remove brake pads as previously described.
4. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque caliper bolts to 14 ft. lbs.
b. Torque union bolt to 22 ft. lbs. on ES 250 models or 14 ft. lbs. on ES 300 models.
c. Fill reservoir, bleed brakes and check for leaks.
Disassembly and Assembly

Refer to Fig. 3 when performing caliper overhaul operations.
DISASSEMBLY
1. Remove caliper as previously described under REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.
2. On all models, remove cylinder boot set ring and cylinder boot.
3. Place a piece of cloth between piston and caliper assembly. Using compressed air, remove piston.
4. Remove piston seal from cylinder.
5. On Except ES 250 models, remove sliding pins from torque plate. Using a chisel and hammer, tap out dust boots.
ASSEMBLY
1. On except ES 250 models, install dust boots and sliding pins.
2. On all models, install piston seal and piston in cylinder.
3. Install cylinder boot and set ring in cylinder.
