Body - Left Rear Door Lock Difficult to Operate

LEFT REAR DOOR LOCK IMPROVEMENT

Introduction 

Customers may complain that the left rear door does not open on the first pull. Improvements to the internal latch mechanism have been made to correct
this condition.

Applicable Vehicles:
2006 model year GS 300 and GS 430 vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown below.

Applicable Warranty:

This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from
the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure

To replace the rear door latch assembly, refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), 2006 model year GS 300 or GS 430 Repair Manual: Engine 
Hood/Door: Rear Door: On-Vehicle, Removal Adjustment

Disconnect the cable from negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner
activation.
