Thermostat: Testing and Inspection

4GR-FSE COOLING: THERMOSTAT: INSPECTION

1. INSPECT INLET WATER WITH THERMOSTAT SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) The valve opening temperature is marked on the inlet water with thermostat sub-assembly.

(b) Submerge the inlet water with thermostat sub-assembly, and then gradually heat the water.

(c) Check the valve opening temperature.

Standard valve opening temperature:

80 to 84°C (176 to 183°F)

HINT
If the valve opening temperature is not specified, replace the inlet water with thermostat sub-assembly.

(d) Check the valve lift.

Standard valve lift:

8.0 mm (0.315 in.) or more at 95°C (203°F)

HINT
If the valve lift value is not as specified, replace the inlet water with thermostat sub-assembly.

(e) When the temperature of the inlet water with thermostat sub-assembly drops below 77°C (171°F), check that the valve is fully closed.

HINT
If the valve is not fully closed, replace the water inlet with thermostat sub-assembly.
