Knock Sensor: Service and Repair
Removal

4GR-FSE ENGINE CONTROL: KNOCK SENSOR: REMOVAL

CAUTION:
Do not allow fuel to spray when removing the pipe between the high pressure side fuel pump and the fuel injectors. The fuel in the
pipe is highly pressurized.

1. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE   See: Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel Injector/Service and Repair/Removal

2. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD

(a) Remove the intake manifold    See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Intake Manifold/Service and Repair/Removal.

3. DISCONNECT WATER HOSE JOINT   See: Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel Injector/Service and Repair/Removal

4. REMOVE FUEL PRESSURE PULSATION DAMPER ASSEMBLY   See: Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel Pressure Pulsation

Damper/Service and Repair/Removal

5. REMOVE NO. 1 FUEL PIPE   See: Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel Injector/Service and Repair/Removal

6. DISCONNECT NO. 2 FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY   See: Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel Pump/Service and Repair/Removal and

Replacement/Fuel Pump (for High Pressure)/Removal

7. REMOVE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY   See: Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel Pump/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Fuel

Pump (for High Pressure)/Removal

8. REMOVE NO. 2 FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY   See: Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel Injector/Service and Repair/Removal

9. REMOVE NO. 3 FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY   See: Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel Injector/Service and Repair/Removal

10. REMOVE NO. 2 FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY   See: Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel Injector/Service and Repair/Removal

11. REMOVE NO. 1 FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY   See: Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel Injector/Service and Repair/Removal

12. REMOVE KNOCK SENSOR

(a) Disconnect the 2 knock sensor connectors.

(b) Remove the 2 bolts and 2 knock sensors.
