Inspection

A960E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE: PARK / NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH: INSPECTION

1. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

If the resistance value is not as specified, replace the park/neutral position switch assembly.

On-Vehicle Inspection

A960E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE: PARK / NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Apply the parking brake.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Depress the brake pedal and check that the engine starts when the shift lever is in N or P, but does not start in other positions.

(d) Check that the back-up light comes on and the reverse warning buzzer sounds when the shift lever is in R, but the light and buzzer do not

operate in other positions.

If a failure is found, check the park/neutral position switch for continuity.
