SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

1. PRECAUTION

CAUTION: Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing  See: Service Precautions.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
NOTICE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected  See: Testing and
Inspection/Programming and Relearning/Repair Instruction - Initialization.

3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Headliner/Service and Repair/Removal

4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Headliner/Service and Repair/Removal

5. REMOVE SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL LH See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard / Instrument Panel/Service and

Repair/Removal

6. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard /

7. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard /

8. REMOVE DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

(a) Check that the engine switch is off.
(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Disengage the claw and separate the hood lock control cable.

(d) Remove the 4 bolts.
