NOTICE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected  See: Testing and

5. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY See: Body and Frame/Seats/Service and Repair/Rear Seat Assembly/Removal

6. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY See: Body and Frame/Seats/Service and Repair/Rear Seat Assembly/Removal

7. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Headliner/Service and Repair/Removal

8. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Headliner/Service and Repair/Removal

9. REMOVE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR

(a) Check that the engine switch is off.
(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Disconnect the connector from the rear airbag sensor.

NOTICE: When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

(d) Remove the bolt and disengage the pin, and remove the rear airbag sensor.

NOTICE: Loosen the bolt while holding the rear airbag sensor because the rear airbag sensor pin (stopper) is easily damaged.

Installation

SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: REAR AIRBAG SENSOR: INSTALLATION

SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: REAR AIRBAG SENSOR: INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL REAR AIRBAG SENSOR

(a) Check that the engine switch is off.
(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Install the rear airbag sensor with the bolt and pin.

Torque: 9.0 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 in-lbf)

NOTICE:

If the rear airbag sensor has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace it with a new
one.

When installing the rear airbag sensor, be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and that it is not pinched between
other parts.
