Removal

SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

1. PRECAUTION

CAUTION: Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing  See: Air Bag Systems/Service Precautions.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
NOTICE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected  See: Testing and
Inspection/Programming and Relearning/Repair Instruction - Initialization.

3. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard / Instrument Panel/Service and

4. REMOVE UPPER NO. 1 CONSOLE PANEL GARNISH See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard / Instrument Panel/Service

5. REMOVE UPPER NO. 2 CONSOLE PANEL GARNISH See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard / Instrument Panel/Service

7. REMOVE FRONT ASH RECEPTACLE ASSEMBLY See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard / Instrument Panel/Service and

8. REMOVE REAR ASH RECEPTACLE ASSEMBLY See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Console/Service and Repair/Removal

9. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX REGISTER ASSEMBLY See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Console/Service and Repair/Removal

10. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Console/Service and Repair/Removal

11. REMOVE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Check that the engine switch is off.
(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Disconnect the holder (with connectors).

NOTICE: When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

(d) Remove the 2 bolts, nut and center airbag sensor assembly.
