Removal

STEERING COLUMN: TILT AND TELESCOPIC MANUAL SWITCH: REMOVAL

CAUTION: Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag

1. PRECAUTION See: Steering/Service Precautions/Steering System
2. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL See: Steering/Steering Column/Service and Repair/Removal

4. REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Air Bag/Service and Repair/Steering

Pad/Removal

5. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Air Bag/Service and Repair/Steering

Pad/Removal

6. REMOVE STEERING PAD See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Air Bag/Service and Repair/Steering Pad/Removal

7. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY See: Steering/Steering Wheel/Service and Repair/Removal

8. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER

(a) Remove the 3 screws.
(b) Disengage the 2 claws to remove the lower steering column cover.

NOTICE: Do not damage the tilt and telescopic switch.

9. REMOVE TILT AND TELESCOPIC SWITCH

(a) Disconnect the connector.
(b) Disengage the claw and pull out the tilt and telescopic switch.

NOTICE: Pushing on the claw too hard will break the claw.
