Stop Light Switch - Adjustment Procedure

Title STOP LIGHT SWITCH ADJUSTMENT

When adjusting the brake light switch on LS400, the following procedures should be followed:

Check the stop light switch operation.

1.

Check that there is brake pedal freeplay, as shown in Fig 1.

Pedal freeplay:

3-5 mm (0.12-0.20 in.)

Check that the stop lights come on when the brake pedal is depressed 5-15 mm (0.20-0.59 in.) from the free position as shown in Fig 2.

Note:

Should not exceed 15 mm (0.59 in.).

Make sure the stop lights go off when the brake pedal is released.

If the stop lights do not come on when the brake pedal is depressed 5-15 mm (0.20-0.59 in.) from the free position, adjust the stop light switch.

Adjusting the stop light switch.

1.

Remove the under cover.

2.

Remove the lower pad and air duct.

3.

Remove the power steering ECU.

Disconnect the connector from the stop light switch.

5.

Loosen the stop light switch lock nut.
