After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of
memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, be sure to wait for the time specified in the following table
before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected See: Testing and
Inspection/Programming and Relearning.
3. REMOVE TIMING CHAIN COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) for 2WD:
Remove the timing chain cover See: Engine Lubrication/Oil Pump/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Removal.
(b) for AWD:
Remove the timing chain cover See: Engine Lubrication/Oil Pump/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Removal.
4. SET NO. 1 CYLINDER TO TDC / COMPRESSION See: Timing Components/Timing Chain/Service and Repair/Removal
5. REMOVE NO. 1 CHAIN TENSIONER ASSEMBLY (for Bank 1) See: Timing Components/Timing Chain/Service and Repair/Removal
6. REMOVE CHAIN TENSIONER SLIPPER (for Bank 1)
7. REMOVE NO. 1 CHAIN VIBRATION DAMPER (for Bank 1) See: Timing Components/Timing Chain/Service and Repair/Removal
8. REMOVE CHAIN SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Bank 1) See: Timing Components/Timing Chain/Service and Repair/Removal
9. REMOVE NO. 3 CHAIN TENSIONER ASSEMBLY See: Timing Components/Timing Chain/Service and Repair/Removal
10. REMOVE CAMSHAFT BEARING CAP (for Bank 1)
(a) Make sure that the knock pin of the camshaft is positioned as shown in the illustration.
(b) Uniformly loosen and remove the 8 bearing cap bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration.
