1UR-FSE ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM: SFI SYSTEM: REGISTRATION

1. REGISTER VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER

NOTICE:
The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) must be input into the replacement ECM.

HINT
The VIN is in the form of a 17-digit alphanumeric vehicle identification number. The Techstream is required to register the VIN.

(a) DESCRIPTION (Using Techstream)

HINT
This registration section consists of two parts, Read VIN and Write VIN.

(1) Read VIN: Explains the VIN reading process in a flowchart. This process allows the VIN stored in the ECM to be read, in order to confirm

that the two VINs, provided with the vehicle and stored in the vehicle's ECM, are the same.

(2) Write VIN: Explains the VIN writing process in a flowchart. This process allows the VIN to be input into the ECM. If the ECM is

changed, or the VIN and VIN do not match, the VIN can be registered, or overwritten in the ECM by following this procedure.

(b) READ VIN

(1) Confirm the vehicle VIN.

(2) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(3) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(4) Turn the Techstream on.

(5) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / VIN / VIN Read.

(c) WRITE VIN

(1) Confirm the vehicle VIN.

(2) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(3) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(4) Turn the Techstream on.

(5) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / VIN / VIN Write.

2. SHIFT CONTROL SYNCHRONIZATION

Use this procedure to force the ECM to store the vehicle information output by the steering control ECU using the Techstream.

Perform this procedure only when the shift lever position name and S or M shift lever indicator display in the combination meter
do not match. If they match, the system is normal.

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.

(c) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / Shift Control Synchronization.

(d) Follow the instructions on the Techstream screen and perform "Shift Control Synchronization".
