Engine Control Module: Service and Repair
Removal

1UR-FSE ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM: ECM: REMOVAL

1. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH   See: Starting and Charging/Charging System/Alternator/Service and Repair/Removal and

Replacement/Removal

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt
pretensioner activation.

NOTICE:
After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory
and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative
(-) battery terminal.

3. REMOVE AIR CLEANER INLET COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY   See: Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Throttle

4. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH   See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Service and Repair/Removal and

Replacement/Engine/Removal

5. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM ECU COVER

NOTICE:
*

Wipe off any water on or around the engine room ECU cover.

*

Perform these procedures in a dry place away from rain, etc.

*

Do not allow water to enter the ECM through its connectors areas, screw areas, etc.

(a) Remove the 3 bolts and engine room ECU cover.

6. REMOVE TCM

(a) Disconnect the 4 TCM connectors.

(b) Remove the 2 nuts and TCM.

7. DISCONNECT NO. 2 CONNECTOR HOLDER

(a) Disconnect the 2 engine wire connectors.
