Valve Clearance: Adjustments

Valve clearance is adjusted by removing or installing adjusting shims. Shims are removed and inserted with a screwdriver and magnetic finger, Fig. 9.
With the engine cold, intake valve clearance should be .006-.010 inch and exhaust clearance should be .010-.014 inch.

1. Turn crankshaft until No. 1 cylinder is at TDC on compression stroke. Adjust valves of cylinders except No. 6.
2. Before adjusting rear valves of No. 6 cylinder, remove distributor, and camshafts.
