Lexus Link System - Error Message

Introduction

Some owners may experience a Lexus Link system error if the ignition switch is inadvertently stopped halfway between the ACC and ON position. If this
error occurs, the Lexus Link system will announce: A Lexus Link system error has been detected." In addition, an automatic emergency call or service
call may be sent to the Lexus Link call center. To address this issue, an additional wiring harness has been developed to prevent this from occurring.

Applicable Warranty:

This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from
the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure

How to Check if the Lexus Link System Is Functioning

A.

Perform the check when the ignition switch is turned ON (reference). When the ignition switch is turned ON, the LED changes from red to
amber to green: each color lasts 1.5 seconds.

If the vehicle has an active Lexus Link account, the LED will stay green. If the vehicle does not have an active account, the LED will turn
off. If the LED turns red, a malfunction has occurred somewhere in the system.

Performing the diagnosis check (check before and after servicing the Lexus Link system).

a. Diagnosis

When the Lexus Link system is on, the ECU continuously checks if the system has any errors. If an error is detected, an audio
message will play: "A Lexus Link system error has been detected. Please contact your Lexus dealer."
