Removal

Up to 08/2009

2GR-FE ENGINE CONTROL: ECM: REMOVAL

NOTICE:
The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) must be input into a replacement ECM    See: Testing and Inspection/Programming and
Relearning.

1. PRECAUTION (w/ Navigation System for HDD)

NOTICE:
After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of
memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, make sure to wait at least 60 seconds before disconnecting the
cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

2. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the windshield wiper motor and link assembly    See: Wiper and Washer Systems/Wiper Motor/Service and Repair/Front Wiper

Motor/Removal.

3. REMOVE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER CAP (w/ Air Suspension)   See: Steering and Suspension/Suspension/Suspension Strut / Shock

Absorber/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Front Shock Absorber (w/ Air Suspension)/Removal

4. REMOVE OUTER COWL TOP PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY   See: Brakes and Traction Control/Hydraulic System/Brake Master Cylinder/Service

and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Removal

5. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY   See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Service and Repair/Removal and

Replacement/Engine Assembly/Removal

6. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system    See: Restraint
Systems/Air Bag Systems/Service Precautions.

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected    See: Testing and
Inspection/Programming and Relearning/Repair Instruction - Initialization.

7. REMOVE NO. 2 AIR CLEANER INLET   See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine

8. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET   See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine

Assembly/Removal

9. REMOVE BATTERY   See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine Assembly/Removal

10. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY   See: Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Throttle Body/Service and Repair/Removal

11. REMOVE ECM

(a) Separate the wire harness clamp.

(b) Separate the wire harness clamp.
