Steering Wheel: Service and Repair
Removal
Up to 08/2009
STEERING COLUMN: STEERING WHEEL: REMOVAL
CAUTION:
Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system
before servicing See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Service Precautions.
1. PRECAUTION (w/ Navigation System for HDD)
NOTICE:
After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of
memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, make sure to wait at least 60 seconds before disconnecting the
cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
2. PRECAUTION
NOTICE:

3. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
4. REMOVE STEERING PAD

Refer to the instructions for Removal of the steering pad See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Air Bag/Service and
Repair/Removal and Replacement/Steering Pad/Removal.
5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the steering wheel assembly set nut.

(b) Put matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft.
(c) Disconnect the connectors from the spiral cable.
(d) Using SST, remove the steering wheel assembly.
