Loosen the nut while holding the rear airbag sensor because the rear airbag sensor pin (stopper) is easily damaged.

SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: REAR AIRBAG SENSOR: REMOVAL

Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

1. PRECAUTION

CAUTION:
Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing    See: Air Bag Systems/Service Precautions.

NOTICE:

w/ Navigation System for HDD:

After the power switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of
memory and settings. As a result, after turning the power switch off, make sure to wait at least 60 seconds before disconnecting the
cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

2. REMOVE REAR DECK FLOOR BOX   See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Headliner/Service and Repair/Removal and

Replacement/Removal

3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected    See: Testing and
Inspection/Programming and Relearning/Repair Instruction - Initialization.

4. REMOVE REAR SEAT ASSEMBLY

Refer to the procedure up to Remove Rear Seat Assembly    See: Body and Frame/Seats/Service and Repair/Removal and
Replacement/Rear Seat Assembly (for LH Side)/Removal for LH Side,    See: Body and Frame/Seats/Service and Repair/Removal and
Replacement/Rear Seat Assembly (for RH Side)/Removal for RH side).

5. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE   See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Headliner/Service and Repair/Removal and

Replacement/Removal

6. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE COVER   See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Headliner/Service and Repair/Removal and

Replacement/Removal

7. REMOVE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR

(a) Check that the power switch is off.

(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Disconnect the connector.
