A/C CHEMICAL ODOR
LINCOLN:
2003-2005 Aviator
ISSUE
Some 2003-2005 Lincoln Aviators may exhibit a chemical odor (freezer type smell) from the A/C system when driving 30 minutes or more at highway
speeds. This condition only occurs in hot, humid climates and is due to condensation freezing/thawing on the front evaporator core.
NOTE:
THIS TSB DOES NOT ADDRESS A/C MILDEW ODOR.
ACTION
If the chemical odor is verified, remove the refrigerant containment switch, mounted on the front thermostatic expansion valve (TXV). Replace with a
low pressure cycling switch and jumper harness supplied in the kit. Refer to the installation sheet included in the kit.
NOTE:
THE A/C SYSTEM MUST BE RECOVERED PRIOR TO CONTAINMENT SWITCH REMOVAL.
