Evaporator Case: Service and Repair
Heater Core and Evaporator Core Housing, Assembly and Components

HEATER CORE AND EVAPORATOR CORE HOUSING, ASSEMBLY AND COMPONENTS

CAUTION:  This engine is equipped with a cold side thermostat. Whenever the engine block or the front or rear (auxiliary) heater cores have
been drained, fill and bleed procedures must be carried out or damage to the engine can occur.

NOTE:

-

If an evaporator core leak is suspected, the evaporator core must be vacuum leak tested before it is removed from the vehicle.

Installation of a new receiver/drier is not required when repairing the air conditioning system except when there is physical evidence of
contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the receiver/drier.

New O-ring seals, lubricated in clean PAG oil, must be installed before reconnecting any A/C fitting which has been disconnected.

Lubricate the coolant hoses with plain water only if needed.

REMOVAL

1. Recover the refrigerant.
2. Remove the instrument panel. Refer to:  Body and Frame, Interior Trim, Dashboard/Instrument Panel, Service and Repair, Removal and

3. Clamp off the heater core inlet and outlet hoses at the heater core connection.
