Seat Belt: Adjustments
SAFETY BELTS, FASTENING
After entering vehicle, adjust the front seat to obtain the best position for driving comfort, access to controls and visibility. Then use the following
procedure for fastening front outboard and rear belts.
1. Pull the lap/shoulder safety belt from the retractor so that the shoulder portion of the belt crosses the shoulder and chest.
2. Insert the safety belt tongue into the proper buckle until a snap is heard and a latch is felt.
SAFETY BELTS, UNFASTENING
To unfasten the safety belt:
1. Push the release button on the buckle. This allows the tongue to unlatch from the buckle.
2. Guide the tongue to its original position while the safety belt retracts. If the tongue is not guided, it may strike the technician, a passenger or part of
the vehicle.
SHOULDER PORTION ADJUSTMENT
The shoulder belt height can be adjusted to one of five positions. Press the release button and slide it up or down until the belt rests on the technicians
shoulder near the neck. Release the button and make sure the adjuster is firmly in one of the five positions.
The shoulder restraint portion of the safety belt adjusts automatically to a snug position.
LAP PORTION ADJUSTMENT
The vehicle is equipped with a manually-adjusted lap belt for the center-front seat occupant. Insert the belt tongue into the proper buckle until a snap
is heard. Pull on both sides of belt to make sure the buckle is latched. Pull up on the end of the belt to tighten the lap portion to a snug fit. Make sure
the belt is as low on the hips as possible.
