Air Bypass Valve - Rattles at Idle

NOISE - RATTLING AT IDLE - ENGINE COMPARTMENT (5.0L CFI)

FORD 1984 THUNDERBIRD

LINCOLN-MERCURY 1984 COUGAR, CONTINENTAL, MARK VII

Vehicles which exhibit a rattling condition during engine idling can be serviced by repositioning the thermactor air-bypass valve away from right shock
tower.

1.

Loosen hose clamp at the thermactor air-bypass valve and at the air supply control valve (See Figure 5).

2.

Reposition air-bypass valve inlet hose and tube assembly away from right shock tower.

3.

Re-tighten both hose clamps.
