Crossmember - Squeak On Rough Roads

NOISE - SQUEAK - ROUGH ROAD OPERATION

LINCOLN-MERCURY 1984 MARK VII, CONTINENTAL

Some vehicles may experience a high-pitched squeaking noise when driven on rough roads. This condition may be caused by the number three
crossmember bushing preload between the R.H. and L.H. body transmission support brackets.

The following procedure should be performed to service this condition.

1.

Remove #3 crossmember from vehicle (refer to Shop Manual Page 21-21-8, Figure 15).

FOLLOW TRANSMISSION SUPPORT INSTRUCTIONS.)
