Continental V8-4.6L DOHC (1995)
1.
Open hood and driver's door. Install fender and seat covers.
2.
Connect Rotunda Memory Saver R104-00001, or equivalent.
3.
Disconnect battery negative cable.
4.
Remove retaining screws for steering column lower cover, then pull lower cover away from instrument panel. Disconnect traction control switch
electrical connector and remove cover.
5.
Remove instrument panel garnish trim from above lighting control module.
6.
Remove retaining screws for lighting control module and pull module from the instrument panel.
7.
Disconnect module electrical connectors and remove module from the vehicle.
8.
Position replacement lighting control module and connect electrical connectors.
9.
Slide module into position making sure to engage the guide rails on the bottom of the module with the corresponding bracket in the instrument
panel.
10.
Install the module retaining screws.
11.
Install the instrument panel garnish trim above the lighting control module.
12.
Connect the traction control switch electrical connector, then position the steering column lower cover. Install the cover retaining screws.
13.
Connect battery negative cable.
14.
Disconnect and remove Rotunda Memory Saver.
15.
Check lighting control module operation.
16.
Remove fender and seat covers. Close hood and door.
17.
Return removed lighting control module per instructions in Attachment II, "Mandatory Parts Return".

Affected Vehicles
Certain 1995 and 1996 Model Year Lincoln Continentals built from 11/28/94 through 11/4/95 at the Wixom Assembly Plant.
Reasons For Recall
On some of these vehicles, a defect within the Autolamp system may cause the exterior lighting, including the headlamps, to shut off without warning.
This would only occur while the Autolamp feature is being used to activate the lamps. It will not occur if the exterior lamps are being operated from the
manual headlamp switch. If the headlamps shut off because of Autolamp malfunction, the driver can turn them back on by simply manually rotating the
headlamp switch to the "ON" position (the second position as shown in the vehicle Owner Guide: page 107 in 1995; page 82 in 1996).
