Canister Purge Solenoid: Description and Operation
PURPOSE
The Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Valve controls the flow of fuel vapors out of the evaporative emissions canister. It also closes off vapor
flow from the evaporative emissions canister when the engine is not running.
OPERATION
After the engine is started, in response to a signal from the powertrain control module, the evaporative emission canister purge valve opens and
closes to allow fuel vapors to flow from the evaporative emissions canister to the engine.
