This TSB article is being republished in its entirety to correct the listed old calibrations.
CALIBRATION:
5-38D-R05, 5-38D-R10, 5-38R-R05, 5-38R-R10, 6-38D-R10, 6-38R-R10, 7-38D-R11, 7-38R-R07, 7-38R-R11
WARNING:
THIS MODIFICATION IS AUTHORIZED ONLY FOR THE LISTED ENGINE. PERFORMING THIS MODIFICATION ON OTHER ENGINE
CALIBRATIONS IS UNAUTHORIZED AND COULD CREATE LIABILITY UNDER APPLICABLE FEDERAL OR LOCAL LAWS.
ISSUE:
Some vehicles may stall during quick tip-in and/or quick tip-out (i.e., parking lot maneuvers or stopping at a traffic light). There are no driveability codes
set. This may be caused by the calibration being too sensitive for the air/fuel fluctuations.
ACTION:
Reprogram the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The new calibration has been revised to compensate for the air/fuel fluctuations and should reduce
the possibility of stalls. Refer to the following PCM Application Chart for correct PCM usage.
Obtain an Authorized Modification Decal (FPS 8262 - obtainable through DOES II, 25/pkg) and list the date, dealer number, and summary of
modifications performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information Decal suitable for installing the Authorized
Modifications Decal. Clean the area, install the decal, and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
