ISSUE
A light "grunting," "hooting," or "rattling" noise from the suspension at low vehicle speeds may be heard on some vehicles. This may be caused by the
height sensor(s).
ACTION
Replace the height sensor with a revised height sensor. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
NOTE
THIS TSB ONLY APPLIES TO VERY LIGHT NOISES PERCEPTIBLE ONLY TO VERY SENSITIVE CUSTOMERS. IF THE NOISE IS
VERY OBVIOUS TO ANY DRIVER, OR CAN BE FELT IN THE FLOOR AS WELL AS HEARD, THIS TSB WILL NOT BE OF BENEFIT.
FOR NOISES OF THIS TYPE, REFER TO TSB 98-13-5.
1.
Duplicate the noise by either road testing or jouncing the vehicle while parked.
2.
Turn off the air suspension switch located in the right rear trim panel of the trunk.
3.
Raise the vehicle on a lift.
4.
Remove the suspect height sensor(s) from the vehicle.
5.
Lower the vehicle.
6.
Attempt to duplicate the concern under the same conditions as in Step 1.
If the noise is still present, refer to TSB 98-13-5 for additional diagnostics. If the noise is gone, replace the height sensor with the revised Height Sensor
(F7OZ-5359-AA or -BB).
