TRANSMISSION - LEAKS AT TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER
LINCOLN-MERCURY:
1995-97 CONTINENTAL
ISSUE:
The transmission oil cooler hoses may leak at the transmission oil cooler. This may be due to the cooler lines leaking at the rubber hose attachment to the
cooler. Do not replace the radiator for this condition.
ACTION:
Determine whether the leak is coming from the rubber hose connection or the cooler connection at the radiator end tank. Leaks from the rubber hose are
often misdiagnosed as radiator end tank leaks because of the fluid on the tanks. Clean any fluid from the tanks and lines, check the clamp tightness and
reverify the leak. Replace the radiator only if a leak is found at the cooler-to-radiator end tank seal.
