Radiator Hose: Service and Repair
Upper and Lower Radiator Hoses

Removal

1. Radiator hoses should be checked as directed in the applicable Maintenance Schedule. Replace whenever they become cracked.

2. Drain the radiator.
3. Position the hose clamps out of the way.
4. Slide the hoses off each connection. Remove the hoses from the vehicle.

Installation

1. Position the clamps at least 50.8 mm (2 inch) from each end of the hose.

CAUTION: Reposition the clamps beyond the bead and place in the center of the clamping surface of the connections. Constant-tension hose
clamps must be installed inside the alignment marks or engine coolant leaks and possible engine damage may occur.

2. Slide the hoses on the connections.

3. Position clamps in the center of the clamping position at least 3.2 mm (0.125 inch) from each end of the hose.
4. Fill the radiator with the recommended 50/50 mixture of Premium Cooling System Fluid E2FZ-19549-AA or B (in Canada, Motorcraft CSC-8-B)

or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M97B44-A and water. Operate the engine for several minutes then check the hoses and connections
for leaks.
