If either bushing produces the clicking noise during Steps 4-6, replace the rear control arm. Refer to the appropriate Continental Service Manual,
Section 04-02, for details.

Repeat Steps 3-7 for the rear control arm on the left side of the vehicle. Replace the control arm, if necessary.

Mass Dampers

NOTE

THE MASS DAMPERS ARE ALREADY INSTALLED ON ALL 1998 CONTINENTALS. IT IS ONLY NECESSARY TO INSPECT THE
UPPER CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS ON SUSPECT 1998 CONTINENTALS.

Refer to the 1995-97 Service Procedure Mass Dampers Steps 1a-1d to inspect/repair prior to servicing the rear control arms.

Rear Control Arms

Refer to the 1995-97 Service Procedure Rear Control Arms Steps 1-8 to check the rear control arm bushings for movement and noise.
