Brake Fluid Accumulator: Service and Repair

Fig. 9 Hydraulic accumulator replacement

Relieve system hydraulic pressure by turning ignition off and pumping brake pedal at least 20 times until an increase in pedal force is felt.

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable and electrical connector from hydraulic pump motor.

2.

Remove accumulator, Fig. 9, ensuring no debris falls into open port.

3.

Remove accumulator adapter block, if necessary.

4.

Reverse procedure to install. Torque adapter block bolt to 25---34 ft. lbs. and accumulator to 30---34 ft. lbs.
