Factory default or any previously entered codes should first be cleared before programming. Clearing is performed by holding the two (2) outside
buttons of the HomeLink(R) Universal Transmitter for 20 seconds until the LED on the transmitter flashes rapidly, then releasing the buttons.
Refer to Figures 1 and 2.

Once the system is cleared, select and press the button that is to be trained on the HomeLink(R) Universal Transmitter. The LED will flash slowly.
While continuing to press the button on the transmitter, hold the original transmitter (e.g., garage door opener) 25-51 mm (1-2") from the
HomeLink(R) Universal Transmitter, then depress the button on the original transmitter. Hold both buttons until the LED on the HomeLink(R)
Universal Transmitter begins to flash rapidly. This should take between 1-30 seconds. Refer to Figure 3.

Additional transmitters can be programmed by repeating Step 2 for the selected button.

Customers should retain their original transmitter in a safe place, should future reprogramming become necessary.

ERASING CHANNELS - To erase all three (3) programmed channels, hold down the two (2) outside buttons on the HomeLink(R) Universal
Transmitter for about 20 seconds until the LED begins to flash, then release both buttons. Individual channels cannot be erased, but can be
reprogrammed by following the previous procedure for programming.

GENERAL TIPS

Make sure the system is cleared once before programming the first transmitter

It the transmitter does not accept the new program on the first try, try the programming procedure again, holding the original transmitter at different
distances (between 25-152 mm (1-6") and at different angles to the HomeLink(R) Universal Transmitter
^
Some original transmitters, especially in Canada, may stop transmitting after 1-2 seconds. Programming to these systems will have greater success if
the original transmitter is "cycled," or pressed and repressed every 2 seconds until the LED on the HomeLink(R) Universal Transmitter flashes
rapidly

ROLLING CODES - If the HomeLink(R) Universal Transmitter appears to learn from the original transmitter but does not open the garage door, and
it the garage door opener was built after 1995, the opener may have a new Rolling Code feature. This type of system will change the "code" of the
garage door opener every time the garage door is opened or closed. The HomeLink(R) Universal Transmitter on vehicles built after October 1996,
will work with these systems, but will require an extra step to synchronize with the garage door opener receiver. For vehicles built prior to October
1996, contact the HomeLink(R) Universal Transmitter Helpline, (800) 355-3515, 9:00 AM-9:00 PM (EST) Monday through Friday and 10:00
