This TSB article is being republished in its entirety to include 1996 model year vehicles.
ISSUE:
The paint on the lower body side and/or rocker panels may chip on some vehicles. This may be caused by sand and gravel being thrown up by the tires.
Some road surfaces and materials used in different regions to improve traction on slippery roads, such as: sand, slag, gravel, etc., can be extremely
abrasive and can cause chipping or wearing of the paint.
ACTION:
To help prevent damage to the lower body side, install a Splash Shield Kit to the vehicle. Painted surfaces can be repaired, if required, using normal
repair/repaint procedures. Refer to the Instruction Sheet included in the kit for installation of splash shields.
