Liquid Vapor Separator: Description and Operation
Fuel Vapor Valve
PURPOSE
Uses a small orifice and shutoff valve to allow only fuel vapor, no liquid, to pass into the fuel vapor hose routed forward to the fuel vapor canister.
Provides pressure relief ahead of the orifice to fuel vapor canister.
OPERATION
Fuel vapors in the sealed fuel tank are vented through the fuel vapor valve, transmitted through a single vapor hose to the fuel vapor canister at the
front of the vehicle. A spring-loaded poppet valve in the fuel vapor valve provides pressure relief ahead of the orifice to fuel vapor canister. It
gradually opens above 5-6 kPa (2-25 in H2O) to vent fuel vapors to the fuel vapor canister.
