Variable Induction System: Service and Repair
Disassembly and Assembly
1. Remove E-clip retaining vacuum control linkage to lever/shaft assembly.
2. Remove adjustment screw from the vacuum control and bracket.
3. Remove two bolts retaining Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC) vacuum control and bracket to IMRC housing assembly.
4. Disconnect linkage from the lever/shaft assembly and remove vacuum control.
5. To install vacuum control and bracket assembly, reverse removal procedure. Tighten retaining bolts to 8.0-11.5 Nm (71-101 lb in). Adjust
vacuum control as follows:
a. Apply 41-67 kPa (12-20 in Hg) vacuum to the vacuum control inlet port. Turn the adjustment screw in vacuum control bracket clockwise until
screw no longer contacts the lever arm.
b. Maintaining applied vacuum, insert a 0.05 mm (0.002 inch) feeler gauge between adjustment screw and lever arm. Adjust the screw clockwise
until screw contacts the feeler gauge. Remove the feeler gauge and turn the adjustment screw clockwise an additional three quarter three
quarters to one turn.
