Pinion Gear: Service and Repair
Removal
1. Remove differential case.
2. If pinion shaft is to be used again, place matchmarks on shaft and companion flange. Use companion flange holding tool T78P-4851-A, or
equivalent, to loosen, but not remove, pinion nut.
3. Using a suitable puller, pull companion flange loose from splines, then remove flange and nut from pinion shaft.
4. Use a soft face hammer to tap pinion shaft from differential carrier.
