ISSUE
Some 2009 MKS vehicles equipped with Push Button Start system and built before 10/23/2008, may exhibit a no crank I no start condition. During this
concern, the starter drive may also be heard rapidly chattering approximately 4 times per second. This may be due to a low battery voltage condition that
results in the PCM cycling the engagement signal to the starter solenoid.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Inspect and evaluate the battery charging system, see Workshop Manual, Section 414-01 to determine the cause of the low voltage condition.
2.
Reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) to the latest calibration using IDS release B58.3 and higher. This new calibration is not included
in the VCM 2008.11 DVD. Calibration files may also be obtained at the website.
WARRANTY STATUS: Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage
IMPORTANT: Warranty coverage limits/policies are not altered by a TSB. Warranty coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part.
