NO CRANK / DISCHARGED BATTERY - BUILT 
BEFORE 3/17/2009

ISSUE
Some 2009 MKS vehicles equipped with the Intelligent Access with Push Button Start system and built before 3/17/2009 may exhibit an engine that will
not crank caused by a dead battery condition. This concern could be caused by customers accidentally leaving the vehicle's Push-Button Start system in
Accessory mode as they exit the vehicle.

The Push-Button Start system will not turn off the vehicle automatically when left in Accessory mode. A new 60 minute time-out feature is available to
customers who routinely leave their vehicle in Accessory mode; vehicle will automatically turn off from Accessory mode after 60 minutes.
Reprogramming the Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module will enable this time-out feature.

ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

NOTE

A RED TEST-EYE INDICATES THE BATTERY IS DISCHARGED, NOT NECESSARILY DEFECTIVE.

NOTE

FAILURE TO FULLY CHARGE THE BATTERY BEFORE RETESTING MAY CAUSE FALSE READING.

1. Inspect and evaluate the battery charging system, see Workshop Manual, Section 414-01 to determine the cause of the low voltage condition.

2. If the time-out feature is desired, reprogram the RFA module to the latest calibration using IDS release B61 .07 and higher. This new calibration is

not included in the VCM 2009.5 DVD. Calibration files may also be obtained at the website.
