Oil Filter Adapter: Service and Repair
Oil Filter Adapter
Removal and Installation
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Vehicle Jacking and Lifting See: Maintenance/Vehicle
Lifting/Service and Repair.
2. Drain the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System &/or Engine Block Heater.
3. Drain the engine oil.

Install the drain plug and tighten to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft).
4. Disconnect the engine oil pressure switch electrical connector.
5. Disconnect the lower radiator hose and position it aside.
6. Remove and discard the engine oil filter.

To install, lubricate the oil filter gasket with clean engine oil and tighten until the seal makes contact.

Using an oil filter strap wrench, tighten the filter an additional 270 degrees.
7. Remove the 4 bolts and the oil filter adapter.

To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
