LOWER DOOR CLADDING RUBBING ON FRONT FENDER
LINCOLN:
2003-2006 Navigator
ISSUE
Some 2003-2006 Navigators may have a concern with paint rub through on the lower door cladding as it contacts the front fender during door operation.
This can be a result of the door to fender margin being out of specification. The fender to door margin needs to be 4.5 mm +/- 1.0 mm with the door
being flush I under flush to the fender. The replacement of the door cladding will not resolve this issue.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
If the door margins are not within margin specification of 4.5 mm +/- 1.0 mm with the door being flush I under flush to the fender, adjust the fender
using the following procedure. This margin is important to prevent paint rub through on the door cladding. If the door margin is within specification, do
not continue with this TSB.
1.
Position power running boards outward if equipped.
2.
Position aside wheel apron and remove inner door jamb shield.
