ISSUE:
Erratic operation of the ATC system may be caused by a loose vacuum hose at the vacuum motor. The loose hose allows vacuum to leak
causing the vacuum motor to divert the A/C output to the defroster nozzles instead of to the instrument panel registers. The vacuum hose may
loosen if it rubs on the left and right lower instrument panel insulators.
ACTION:
To correct this, rework the right and left lower instrument panel insulators using the following service procedure.

Rework left insulator by trimming a 3" x 1" notch along the shaded edge as shown in Figure 11.
2.
Rework right insulator by trimming the shaded corner as shown in Figure 11.
NOTE:
The 45 degree trim line is located 1.5 inches from corner of insulator.
