ISSUE
Improper, erratic, or no temperature control may occur on some vehicles built through 4/16/1998, or poor A/C performance and/or a "popping/clicking"
noise in MAX A/C may occur on some vehicles built through 4/1/1999. These may be due to a broken blend door or a broken/binding recirculation door.
ACTION
Replace the heater plenum with a revised heater plenum. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.

Service Procedure
For the improper, erratic, or no temperature control concern on vehicles built through 4/16/1998:
Drop the glove compartment door and inspect the blend door shaft between the actuator and plenum for cracks with your finger. If the door shaft is
cracked, replace the heater plenum.
For the poor A/C performance and/or a popping/clicking noise in MAX A/C concern on vehicles built through 4/1/1999:
Drop the glove compartment door and evaluate recirc/fresh air door operation. If the door binds, sticks or tails to achieve a seal with the case, does not
travel the full extent in both directions, or is broken, replace the heater plenum.
