Special Tools

Removal 

1. Remove the axle shaft. 

2. CAUTION:  Never remove the inner wheel bearing oil seal by itself. Always remove the inner wheel bearing oil seal and the rear wheel

bearing at the same time. 

NOTE:  If the inner wheel bearing oil seal is leaking, the axle housing vent may be plugged with foreign material.

Use Impact Slide Hammer and Rear Axle Bearing Remover to remove the rear wheel bearing and inner wheel bearing oil seal.

Installation 

1. Lubricate the new rear wheel bearing.

Use Thermally Stable Rear Axle Lubricant XY-80W90-QL or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSP-M2C197-A.

2. Use Axle Tube Bearing Replacer to install the rear wheel bearing.
