Child Safety Seat Tether Anchor - LATCH
CHILD SAFETY SEAT TETHER ANCHOR - LATCH
Removal and Installation
WARNING: All safety belt assemblies (including retractors, belt tension sensor [BTS] if equipped, buckles, shoulder belt height adjusters [if
equipped], child safety seat tether attachments and attaching hardware) should be inspected after every collision. All new belt assemblies
should be installed unless a qualified technician finds the assemblies show no damage and operate correctly. Belt assemblies not in use during a
collision should also be inspected and new assemblies installed if either damage or incorrect operation is noted. Failure to follow these
instructions could increase the risk of injury in collisions.
1. Remove the rear seat cushion.
2. Remove the 2 bolts and slide the safety seat tether anchor LATCH out through the opening in the carpet.
-
To install, tighten to 18 Nm (13 lb-ft).
3. WARNING: It is important that the anchor/latch be tightened to specification. Otherwise, the child's safety seat may not be properly
secured and the child can be injured in case of a sudden stop or accident.
NOTE:
-
No attempt should be made to repair a child safety seat tether anchor LATCH. Install a new part if damage is verified.
-
When installing the LATCH, make sure the alignment tabs are correctly aligned with the slots in the floor pan sheet metal and the wire
attachments are at the top of the bracket.
-
Make sure the child safety seat tether anchor LATCH is accessible for use.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
4. Check the active restraint system for correct operation.
