Air Duct: Service and Repair
A/C Recirculating Air Duct
REMOVAL
1. Remove instrument panel.
2. Remove the RH front wheel and tire assembly from vehicle.
3. Remove the splash shield support bracket (one screw) and the plastic push rivets from around the wheel well opening on the RH front fender.
4. Pull the rear of the splash shield away from the wheel well and remove the nut from the bottom stud of the A/C recirculating air duct.
5. Remove the nut from the stud that retains the A/C recirculating air duct to the cowl top at the outside air inlet opening.
6. Remove the upper screw from the outboard side of the A/C recirculating air duct assembly.
7. From the passenger compartment, remove the screw from the bottom LH side of the A/C recirculating air duct assembly.
8. Pull the bottom of the A/C recirculating air duct assembly rearward, disengaging the bottom stud from the dash panel. While moving it to the left,
disengage the top stud and remove the assembly from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION
1. Maneuver the A/C recirculating air duct assembly into position. Make sure the top and bottom studs protrude through the stud holes in the cowl
top and dash panel.
2. Install the screw into the bottom LH side of the A/C recirculating air duct assembly but do not tighten.
3. Install the nut to retain the A/C recirculating air duct to the cowl top at the outside air inlet opening.
4. From the engine compartment, install the upper screw on the outboard side of the A/C recirculating air duct assembly.
5. Install the nut on the stud located behind the RH front fender splash shield.
6. Install the splash shield support bracket and screw. Also secure the outer edge of the splash shield to the inner area of the wheel well opening with
the plastic rivets.
7. Replace the RH front wheel and tire assembly. Refer to Wheels, Tires and Alignment.
8. From the passenger compartment, tighten the previously installed screw at the bottom LH side of the A/C recirculating air duct assembly.
9. Install the instrument panel.
10. Check the system for proper operation.
