Headlamp Bulb: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Make sure headlamp switch is in off position.

WARNING:  THE HALOGEN HEADLAMP BULB CONTAINS GAS UNDER PRESSURE. THE HEADLAMP BULB MAY
SHATTER IF THE GLASS ENVELOPE IS SCRATCHED OR THE HEADLAMP BULB AND RETAINER IS DROPPED. HANDLE
HEADLAMP BULB CAREFULLY. GRASP HEADLAMP BULB AND RETAINER ONLY BY ITS PLASTIC BASE. AVOID
TOUCHING GLASS ENVELOPE. KEEP HEADLAMP BULB AND RETAINER OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.

NOTE:  A properly aimed headlamp normally does not need to be re-aimed after installation of a headlamp bulb and retainer. A burned-out
headlamp bulb and retainer should not be removed from the headlamp until just before a replacement headlamp bulb and retainer is to be installed.
Removal of a headlamp bulb and retainer for an extended period of time may allow contaminants (dust, moisture, smoke) to enter the headlamp
body and affect the performance of the headlamp. When servicing the headlamp bulb and retainer, energize the headlamp bulb and retainer only
while it is contained within the headlamp body.

2. Lift hood and locate headlamp bulb and retainer installed in rear of headlamp.
3. Remove headlamp dash panel junction wire from headlamp bulb and retainer by grasping wires firmly and snapping connector downward.
4. Remove headlamp bulb and retainer by rotating counterclockwise (when viewed from rear) about one-eighth turn.

5. Carefully remove headlamp bulb and retainer from socket in headlamp by gently pulling straight out of socket. Do not rotate headlamp bulb and

retainer during removal.

INSTALLATION

1. Insert the glass envelope of headlamp bulb and retainer into headlamp while aligning the locking tabs.
2. Rotate headlamp bulb and retainer one-quarter turn.
3. Push headlamp dash panel junction wire into rear of headlamp bulb and retainer until it snaps and locks into position.
4. Turn headlamp switch to HEAD position and check for proper operation. Close hood.
